15 year old Isaac Batty, from Port Erin, is competing at the 2023 Downhill Mountain Bike European Championships in Les Menuires, France this weekend in the under 17 age category.
Batty is part of the British Cycling Gravity Talent Pathway Programme competing out in France, with practice runs having taken place earlier today (Friday) in dry and dusty conditions.
With a further practice run due Saturday morning, the placing round will take place tomorrow afternoon and the final round taking place on Sunday afternoon.
Batty's father Lee said, "it's a very different sort of track to what we are used to. The track is pretty tough with some fairly insane options. The rock drop at the bottom is crazy and only being attempted by a few riders."
The event comes off the back of recent successes for the 15 year old, both on and off the island, including taking 2nd place in the U18 National Downhill Championships for Youth Boys in Bala, North Wales.
Batty is currently ranked 5th in British Cycling's MTB Downhill National Youth Category.
