15 year old Isaac Batty has finished 8th in the U17 UEC Mountain Bike Downhill European Championships from a starting field of 89 competitors.
Having suffered a bad crash in yesterday's seeding run when a previous competitor stopped mid-track in the dust, Batty had to deal with overheating brakes, and other complications from the crash as well as competing with a sore wrist and hand.
Batty's time of 3min 32.76 seconds was only 10.70 seconds behind the category winner. His 3 split times saw him 19th quickest on the first section, 11th in the middle section and 9th on the 3rd section of the 2.4km track.
When asked at the end of his run how it went, he replied "It was ok, but it could have been better."
The race winner was Max Alran (France) who is the current under 17 French champion.
