Art scholarships for 17 Manx students

The Manx charity Arts Aid has announced art scholarships for 17 Manx students.

The recipients for 2023 will be undertaking a wide range of degree and diploma courses including acting, dance, drama, music, musical theatre, virtual theatre, fine art, photography, and design.

Three recipients commencing their final year of studies next month are:

• Amy Convery (Laine Theatre Arts – Epsom: 3-Year Diploma in Musical Theatre);
• Lily Dodd (London Studio Theatre: BA – Professional Performance);
• Lewis Pycroft (Rose Bruford College – Sidcup: BA – Virtual Theatre & Digital Experiences).

Five other recipients are due to begin their second year:

• Gracel Delos Santos (LAMDA: BA – Professional Acting);
• Meisie Germyshuis (PPA – Guildford: 3-Year Diploma – Musical Theatre);
• Annabel King (Fitzwilliam College – University of Cambridge: BA – Music);
• Paulina Kurzydlowska (Liverpool Hope University: BA – Fine Art);
• Aislinn Lace (SLP College – Leeds: 3-Year Diploma in Dance & Musical Theatre).

The new recipients about to start university are:

• Rosie Baxter (Bird College: BA – Musical Theatre); Millie Christian (PPA – Guildford: 3-Year Diploma – Musical Theatre);
• Lexi Forbes (Central School of Speech & Drama – London: BA – Contemporary Performance Practice);
• Sam Hills-Field (Royal Welsh College of Music – Cardiff: B Music);
• Josie Laisney (University of Brighton: BA – Fashion Design);
• Anjali Morgan (University of Salford: BA – Photography);
• Josh Morrison (Northern School of Contemporary Dance – Leeds: BA – Contemporary Dance);
• Lucia Prince (Bath Spa University: BA – Fashion Design);
• Sebastien Sgouraditis (Birmingham Conservatoire: B Music).

David Wertheim, Arts Aid chairman, said: “This year we also reached the remarkable milestone of granting over £250,000 in awards since we began in 2018. Our model of engaging the third and private sectors to become partners in funding arts education is wholly validated. What began as an inspirational idea 10 years ago is now a reality.”
