Earystane is MUA's preferred site for windfarm

The Manx Utilities Authority (MUA) have announced this afternoon (October 3) that the southern site of Earystane and Scards is their preferred site for a proposed windfarm.

This comes following the first stage of its environmental survey, although it apparently doesn’t mean it’s a confirmed development.

The news of the preferred site follows a backlash from residents in the area claiming the chosen site will destroy protected 'heathland'.

Residents also claim the project will have a detrimental effect on local tourism businesses, protected wildlife and the effect the plans have already had on house prices in the area.
