Last night (October 5) fire crews from Ramsey were called to a property to mobilise a chimney fire.
The incident that took place just before 7pm was extinguished using a high pressure hose reel and a bailey ladder was used to access the roof as the chimney was also capped.
Crews were in attendance for an hour and a half and on arrival the Incident Commander quickly ascertained that the chimney had been compromised which resulted in a build-up of smoke within the property.
For safety the fire and rescue service strongly recommend that chimneys are cleaned regularly and in line with the below guidelines:
A blocked or defective chimney can cause carbon monoxide poisoning from gas or solid wood fires.
