Isle of Man Festival of Choirs this weekend

The Isle of Man Festival of Choirs will be taking place this weelend on the October 14 and 15 in the Villa Marina Royal Hall.

Choirs will be competing across four categories: Mixed voice, Men’s voice, Ladies voice and Open voice class.

Several choirs from across the United Kingdom will be joining Manx choirs in the competition.

Two of the travelling choirs include Nelson Civic Ladies from Lancashire who have been finalists in the Sainsburys “Choir of the Year” and have won the BBC TV Grand Sing.

Also in attendance is the 2015 ‘Choir of the Festival’ winners Blackburn Peoples Choir will also be in attendance.

The four class winners will sing again on Sunday morning to find the “Choir of the Festival” where they will be required to sing a 25-minute repertoire of their choice.

Saturday, October 14

·      9:00am Mixed Voice Class

·      11:20am Male Voice Class

·      13:20pm Ladies Voice Class

·      15:50pm Open Class

Sunday, October 15

·      10:00am Douglas Council Ensemble Class

·      11:30pm Choir of the Festival final
