A group of cyclists, including the Chair of The British Irish Trading Alliance (BITA) Isle of Man Brendon Kenny, have raised over £6,500 for Lauchpad by cycling 800 miles in 13 days.
The group of eight cycled the ‘Rock2Rock’ which is from Rock in Cornwall to the southernmost point on the rock of Gibraltar.
The group of friends and work colleagues including serving military, veterans and civilians arrived at Europa Point in Gibraltar last Friday, having achieved their aim of raising awareness of homeless veterans and funds for veterans’ charity Launchpad.
Brendon Kenny, BITA Isle of Man Chair, said: “I calculated we cycled 880 miles in total with a climb of 34,750ft which is over the height of Everest or the equivalent of climbing 17 Snaefell's in 13 days.
"BITA Isle of Man supported Hero's on the Water, Rock to Recovery and Manx Legion at our lunch a couple of years ago, it was this which prompted me to take on this challenge to support and highlight veterans who, for whatever reason, need the help which Launchpad provides.”
Founded in 2013, Launchpad provides vital accommodation and targeted support to Armed Forces veterans experiencing homelessness and those who have struggled with transitioning from the military into civilian life.
You can still support the cyclists and the work of Launchpad via a fundraising page set up at Just Giving.
