Local concert promoters, Triskel Promotions has announced its final shows which will be held in 2024.
The independent Manx company was formed in 2002, but since the pandemic business terms notably with the larger UK Agencies representing artists, have changed to the detriment of the small time promoter.
It said that “larger popular acts are now insisting on 100% of the artist fee 30 days prior to show day” compared to earlier times where “staged deposits and balance were all negotiated prior to going on stage” which gave the smaller companies enough space to operate.
“It is just how the business has gone. Triskel would not be able to budget for a general fee of around £50-60k on those terms, especially if the date was months, even years before happening. The added uncertainty of travel to/from the Island certainly doesn’t help”, said Lenny Conroy, Triskel Promotions.
The finals shows will be held on March 2, 2024 which sees unsigned Edinburgh Indie band WREST play Peel Centenary.
Followed by the finale or ‘Last Dance’ which will see a Davy Knowles followed by a local “house band” of Lindsay and Steve Rowe on keys and bass with Steve Leach on drums take to the The Gaiety stage on April 20, 2024.
