The Isle of Man Law Society are hosting its annual lecture with Carrie de Silva as guest speaker.
Carrie will be talking about Women in Law and notably, 2023 marks 50 years of women practicing Law on the Isle of Man.
Guest speaker, Carrie de Silva has lectured for towards quarter of a century in law and taxation to prospective rural chartered surveyors at Harper Adams University. In addition, she is a visiting Professor of Real Estate Practice Law at the Royal Agricultural University.
She also researches various historical matters, looking at gender and ethnicity in the professions in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with ongoing work around the first women chartered surveyors and early women lawyers.
The open to all event is in memory of Caroline Weatherill, and will be held on November 15 at the Manx Museum from 5:30pm.
