The Islands first ever joint Adult’s and Children’s Safeguarding Week will run from November 20 to 24.
Hosted by The Isle of Man Safeguarding Board, professionals will have the opportunity to learn more about the services and support available on the Island. There will also be an online campaign to raise awareness of safeguarding issues to the public.
Free training and awareness workshops for professionals in relevant sectors will be run throughout the week, showcasing the work of Island services and raising awareness of safeguarding issues.
The activities cover a range of safeguarding topics – from self-neglect to understanding self-harm, adult safeguarding, children’s safeguarding, emotion coaching and keeping sport safe in the community. These will take place as in person events, webinars and drop in sessions.
There will be a safeguarding information stand for the public in the hospital foyer for the duration of the week, and the Isle of Man Constabulary will be running community based activities and a social media campaign.
There will also be the opportunity to hear from the chair of the Isle of Man Safeguarding Board about learning and key messages from recent national and local reviews.
A full, detailed programme is available on the safeguarding board webpage.
