In 2020, Ian Tunney was diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid. After two operations and radiation, he was given the all-clear.
Ian has now set himself the target of completing the 2023 Roger Albert Clark Rally (RAC) and raising money for Hospice Isle of Man along the way.
Ian said: "Many friends, both in the rallying community, and away from it, have been helped by Hospice Isle of Man, and the work they do to support people affected by cancer across the Island is invaluable."
The rally will be taking place November 23 to 27 and will cover a total distance of 1,200 miles through forest tracks in England, Scotland and Wales.
Ian has been involved in motorsport and rallying for many years and has been working together with his two sons, Luke and Ross, to restore and recommission an ex-factory Mitsubishi Starion rally car.
The car and entry fee have been funded by Ian and his friend Chris Sanderson, meaning 100% of donations will go directly to Hospice Isle of Man.
