The Mountain Road will close between Barrule Park, Ramsey and the Bungalow from 9.30am until no later than 3.30pm for urgent drainage works tomorrow (November 28).
The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) will be undertaking works in the vicinity of “Casey’s” (just north of the Veranda/Black Hut).
The DOI will seek to resolve the continuing issue of water running across the carriageway at this location.
It says it was ice in this area that caused the Police particular concern when they closed the Mountain Road to traffic on Friday (November 24) evening.
The work being done is intended to counter the necessity of closing the road in the future due to this particular issue.
The road from the Creg Ny Baa to the Bungalow and the Tholt Y Will Road will remain open to the public throughout.
The works to be undertaken are intended to effect an immediate improvement, although it is not yet known whether more extensive drainage work will be required beyond what can be achieved during this closure.
