The Isle of Man Steam Packet have said todays (December 1) morning sailing to Heysham was delayed due to one of the vessel’s Marine Evacuation System bowsing-in lines coming adrift from its securing as the vessel lifted off the pier on departure.
The “critical” piece of safety equipment required restowing using a shore crane before the vessel could proceed to sea.
It says this will be investigated and measures put in place to ensure it is unlikely to occur again.
The sailing that was scheduled for 08:45 ended up departing an hour later than planned at 09:48.
