Retail giant Tesco says 107 new in-store jobs will be created following the acquisition of Shoprite stores on the Isle of Man.
The supermarket said that it is in the early stages on planning for the store refits which includes five Superstores and four Express stores.
Tesco has also confirmed it has been in discussion with local suppliers. It has been working in partnership with the Manx Government who have created a funding scheme.
Tim Johnston, Minister for Enterprise, said: ‘I welcome the news of job creation by Tesco as this demonstrates their commitment to not only maintain stability of our food supply, but also open further opportunities for the workforce. The DfE, along with our colleagues at DEFA, have maintained close contact with Tesco management since their announcement, and continues to work to ensure the transition period has minimal impact on residents, and all supplier concerns are raised and communicated appropriately.’
