A new antenatal self-referral system for those who are pregnant will launch in the New Year.

 

From 2nd January 2024, individuals can refer themselves for their antenatal care instead of going to their GP.

 

Antenatal self-referrals will be processed by the midwifery team, with appointment confirmations being sent out as usual. Most pregnant individuals will continue to receive Midwife-led care, whilst those identified as high-risk will be seen by a Consultant.

 

Manx Care said it will free up more than 600 GP and community Midwife appointments per year.
