Protest and calls for Steam Packet MD to 'resign'

A protest has been organised in support of Steam Packet staff who have been sacked.

It will take place opposite the Sea Terminal on Wednesday 27th December at 12 noon.

The organisers of the protest have also called for the resignation of the Steam Packet's CEO/MD.

The Government owned ferry company has been locked in a bitter dispute with maritime union Nautilus over new working conditions which will see "live-on-board" arrangements.

Those Officers refusing the new contracts were served with notice yesterday.

Nautilus are taking industrial action short of a strike from 6pm on 27th Deecmber.

The organisers of the protest hope that members of the public will attend in support of the frontline Steam Packet workers.
